A model cel from the Hanna Barbera animated series "The Smurfs" (1981). Featuring the abominable snowbeast, the hand-painted cel was created at the studio and used during the animation process of the season one episode titled "The Abominable Snowbeast," which aired on November 14, 1981. Model cels are created during production in the same manner as screen shot production cels, but are used for reference by the animators, and the ink and paint department to ensure consistent character design and color usage for characters in a production. Measuring 10.5"x12.5" overall, with the character image measuring 6.5"x9.5", the cel is in very good condition with slight line wear, minor edge wear, pinholes from studio use, and staples attaching the celluloid to a paper backing.
